Am listening to the peaceful anthem, the ebb and flow of the ocean, as I read a beautifully crafted piece of literature. Today, am happy to steal away from an increasingly troubled world: Terror. Turmoil. Wars and rumors of war. Black and White taking center stage like the human race is not one. Two despots; one stage-managing a coup against himself and the other stealing the limelight for stopping at a roadside to make calls (like a boss) and then turning around to swat jubilating citizens like unwanted flies at the dinner table. No, am not a spoilsport. I was taught early to call a ladle, a ladle. Not a big spoon.
- In this New York Times bestseller and 2015 Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, “All The Light We Cannot See,” Anthony Doerr writes skillfully about the frailty and resilience of the human heart, the immutability of a moment and the healing power of time. I love the turn of phrase and this book is not short of it; the prose and imagery are stunning. The author paints a word canvass that depicts, against all odds, that people try to be good to one another. So, where’s the problem?
