Life has an uncanny way of serving up exactly what we proclaim.<\/p>\n
Over the holidays, I was going through an old trunk with my paraphernalia from yesteryears; I carried it home from my father\u2019s house just before he passed. Besides the old fading pictures that brought back many memories, the gem was a small notebook from 33 years ago.<\/p>\n
When I was 12, I had my little friends write in it what their hopes were for the future. What do you know? ALL 14 of them (without exception) turned out exactly as they had written in my prized book – careers to boot. One of them went on to become one of Africa\u2019s foremost systems engineers. Yes, that\u2019s exactly what he had written – to become Africa\u2019s leading systems engineer! <\/span><\/p>\n I suspect that if we understood the potency of the proclamations we make (especially over ourselves), we would rather spend our days in solitude than go around singing \u201cNo body knows the trouble I\u2019ve seen.\u201d We would pause before joining every passing crowd prophesying doom and gloom. We would go hmm, hmm, as we watch the naysayers on the evening news (with their facts and figures) try to convince us how the sky is falling.<\/p>\n The words we speak are so powerful and have creative power. That\u2019s why if you spend time around me, I will not let you have a pity party even on the hardest of days. That\u2019s why the place I call home is a Possibilities-Only environment; no negativity and sod story TV bulletins to dampen our faith and steal our joy. Ditto my car. Same for my work place.<\/p>\n Today is #<\/span>Monday<\/span><\/span><\/a>. May your words echo your faith, not your fears. You see, the sum total of it is that you will not have want you want.
