After a week of running in the rain (and what seemed like sub-zero temperatures in Nairobi), Mr Sun is finally peeping out, and we are out in the garden trying to catch some warmth before he changes his mind (like he often does). We are also playing the Kenyan version of Monopoly. God knows I am having a HARD time explaining to my daughter that she, for no plausible reason whatsoever – and for zilch exchange of value, has to “toa kitu kidogo.”PS. In Uganda “kitu Kidogo” is ka-chai, in China – chaqian. Elsewhere it’s a variation of “greasing” the palm, hand or wheels.

Lol Richard Zimbalist, those chaps made a habit of holding on to me (and wasting precious time) once I told them I had what they want but would not dip in my pocket any time soon??
