The Uganda flag at an Invisible Children match.

Ok, let me not be the joy killer here but with the very limited TV we get to see at our house (and no radio for me!), I haven’t been seeing much of the goings-on, save for the occasional You-Tube video and newspaper reports. And am not a politician (and I have to constantly fight the deep and abiding disdain I have for the wolves in sheep-skin that masquerade under that title in this town) but the images of women, children, by-standers (and hospitalized patients!) being subjected to police brutality that I saw on the news last night kept me thinking long and hard into the night and wondering what God would have me do for my part. Then I was reminded of the famous quote by Martin Niemoller:

First they came for the communists, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

UGANDA – May God uphold you!
