Just concluded my study of Paul’s letter to the Galatians, considered the Believer’s Declaration of Independence. Unlike his other 12 books, Paul personally hand wrote this epistle. When he chides them, his frustration is palpable. I can imagine his impatient scribbling on parchment becoming almost illegible at this point: “You were running a good race. Who cut in on you [to keep you from obeying the truth]?”
What makes us slow down when we are on the path of achievement, when we are well ahead in the race of life?

True, Rosemary Lore! The Message Paraphrase captures well Paul’s emotion on this: “…for only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren’t smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it?” Galatians 3:3
