One of my all time favorite holiday classics (scratch that. One of my favorite movies!) is the theme-laden 1994 blockbuster film “Forrest Gump.” The character, immortalized by Tom Hanks, is an enigma of the simple order. At one point, to find himself, he runs. And runs. And runs. For 3 years, 2 months, 14 days and 16 hours. During this time, he’s joined by throngs of lookers-on. Passersby. Curious people with unanswered life questions themselves. Then one cold winter afternoon, he stops. And for the first time, he speaks. “Am pretty tired,” he manages. “I think I’ll go home now.” And just like that, he turns around. And leaves a bewildered crowd wondering what now to do. Got me thinking. Whose lead am I taking? Do we blindly follow a crowd we do not know? Are you living someone else’s life?
