Kasim Sodangi. Almost two years ago, I was in transit, 22 hours into my journey back home from a round robin six-week business trip abroad, with another 6 hours to go. I was absolutely knackered, and all that was on my mind was Mona, the girls and home. I walked into one of the airport restaurants, and in exchange for my airline meal coupon, got served coffee and a pastry. I proceeded to sit in the farthest corner I could find. A most valuable moment of solitude to myself. A rarity for this season of my life. Or so I thought. Then sauntered in a finely dressed gentleman into my hallowed space; a far outcry from the hoi polloi riffraff that is me – in my running shoes (replete with Nike tracker), jumper and jeans. He asked if he could share the table with me. Grudgingly, I budged up. I don’t remember the details of our small talk but his passion for life and Africa had me listening. When our flights got called, I knew I had a friend for life. Not just another chance terminal meeting. Tonight, I hosted him at home in Nairobi. In a most vivid way, I’ve been reminded about the intersection of Life, Kingdom, and the Marketplace. So blessed for this, my Nigerian brother.
