Heard of The Prayer of Jabez? It became so popular it even made the New York Times bestseller list a few years ago. But David’s little-proclaimed (but bold) prayer in the Psalms jumped off the page at me this morning. It was written during a time of great distress – after he had narrowly escaped one of many of Saul’s spirited attempts to kill him. He was hiding in the desert at this point.
“Add day after day to my [the king’s] life; may his years continue for many generations. May he be enthroned before God forever.” Psalm 61:6-7 (ISV)
And he wasn’t even in the palace yet! But he prayed to a God who loves to answer big hairy audacious prayers. The God who says “Call unto me and I’ll show you great and unsearchable things.” For David, God answered his prayer spectacularly: his throne / rule is for forever – by way of Jesus, his descendant

Thanks for sharing dear Zik! I’m currently in the valley of the shadow of evil and such encouragement is an oasis on the way to Ps 23:5
