Just completed my first read of the year.
Published last October, New York Times best selling author TD Jakes’ latest book is a flight metaphor of an entrepreneurial journey. From the runway of opportunity to soaring to freedom at 30,000 feet above ground zero, this global CEO blends life coaching and his life story to give insights and tools that are bound to nudge his reader out of the dulling comfort of mediocrity, follow a flight plan and build wings that will get them airbound.
Having grown up in a small aviation town, Jakes’ use of the Wright brothers’ invention (the world’s first airplane) as a touchpoint throughout the book is akin to being served a warm cup of coffee after a day-long climb up a mountain in sub-zero temperatures: Heart-warming! It brought back memories of the seemingly unending whirring din of small Cessna planes, the big-sound commercial flights and the occasional goodwill fun-ride around town.
A definite good read for all would-be entrepreneurs whose vision is informed by their constraints.
